Jasmine Franklin, gold medal winner of the recent NAACP ACT-SO competition will be among the many youth featured during a FREE special event hosted by the Michigan Festival of Sacred Music.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8 at First Congregational Church, 129 S. Park in downtown Kalamazoo. The program will feature a diverse array of entertainment from area youth.
“The Michigan Festival of Sacred Music offers events which represents different religious traditions, promoting mutual respect and understanding through sharing the music treasured by these traditions,” say organizers.
The Sound & Spirit of Young Kalamazoo is a free program, and will feature young performers from the area representing diverse faiths through dance and music. Performers include: the Muslim Youth Choir, Sikh Temple Youth Musicians, WMU student and organist Evan Snyder, WMU student Chelsea Morgan, soprano, Kalamazoo teens cellist Cullen O’Neil and pianist Rebecca Luppe, Hindu Devotional Dancers, 2011 ACT-SO Gold Medalist Jasmine Franklin and the Galilee Baptist Church Praise Dancers.
