KALAMAZOO (MICH.)-Grandparents play a special role in our lives. Whether they are there to comfort, be in inspiration, or just to listen to, they are valuable to our families and communities.

The Ecumenical Senior Center will host the Community Grandparents Day event at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at Galilee Baptist Church located at 1216 North Westnedge Ave.

The event themed, “Forget Me Not, Grandparents,” is a way for families to celebrate with their grandparents in a public setting. The Children Community choir will perform, and participants will share special tributes to their grandparents. A reception will be held after the event to allow the families and community a time to meet some of the amazing grandparents in our community.

For more information on how to present a tribute, or other honors to grandparents, contact the Ecumenical Senior Center at 702 N. Burdick St., in Kalamazoo, or call, Margaret Smith at (269) 381-9750.

Community Voices was founded in 2005 by James and Arlene Washington in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The weekly print publication provided a unique opportunity to inform the multicultural community of news important to them. In addition, it provided an affordable advertising source for small businesses in the community.
