KALAMAZOO (MICH.)- After the presents are unwrapped and the kids STILL have days to go before school starts, what do you do to get them out of the house? There are many activities to choose from.

December 22: (4-5:30 p.m.) Make A Gift for someone you love. The Powell Library will present this gift making event for kids in grades 1-6. This event is free. For more information, call 269-553-7970.

December 26: Holiday Hands-on at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. From 1-4 p.m. Dec. 26-30, children can participate in daily hands-on activities with the theme, “Who Done It?” The museum will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec 31 for an early ball-drop for kids. There will also be crafts and other activities.

There’s still time to catch the special exhibit “CSI: Crime Scene Insects.” This exhibit, which runs through Jan. 1, dives into forensic entomology, or the use of insects to reveal critical details at a crime scene. The exhibit “Fractals: Mathematics & Science as Art” remains on display until Jan. 22. Admission to the museum is free.
For more information, contact the museum at 269-373-7990.

Community Voices was founded in 2005 by James and Arlene Washington in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The weekly print publication provided a unique opportunity to inform the multicultural community of news important to them. In addition, it provided an affordable advertising source for small businesses in the community.
