KALAMAZOO (MICH.)-“Eat Local, Kalamazoo,” a program of Fair Food Matters, welcomes author and Master Gardener Sheri Repucci, who will discuss how to grow, cook and store organic vegetables in and around the Great Lakes.
This free event will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19 at the Washington Square Branch of the Kalamazoo Public Library (1244 Portage St.).
Repucci’s recent book, Easy Edibles, is the “complete guide to growing organic vegetables, herbs and edible flowers in the lower Great Lakes region,” and includes information such as when, where and how to plant and when and how to harvest. In addition, Repucci discusses how to make your garden a place to “express creativity and find joy.” Her presentation will include tips for cooking, storing and preserving the harvest, plus delicious, simple recipes.
Sheri Repucci has been growing vegetables and perennials organically in the Great Lakes region since childhood. She’s taught children the joys of gardening in small spaces for more than a dozen years, and has managed a community garden program devoted to nurturing a lifelong love of gardening in seniors, children, and those with vision and other physical challenges.
