KALAMAZOO (MI)- Many may know Yolanda Lavendar for her soultry singing with the group, Truth Tones. What many may not know is that Lavendar is an aspiring model. Her dedication to the field has led to her being named to the top 15 finalists of the First Annual Taliah Waajid Black Earth Products Top Model competition.
The winner of the competition will be revealed at the World Natural Hair and Beauty Show held April 30-May 1, 2011 at the Georgia International Covention Center in College Park, Ga.
Taliah Waajid Black Earth Products is the proud presenter of the World Natural Hair, Health and Beauty Show since 1995. The World Natural Hair, Health and Beauty Show creates a much needed arena for professionals and consumers to come together to learn and exchange information about natural hair care, health and beauty products and techniques.

Lavendar said the following regarding why she feels she should win the competition:
I feel I will be the best representative of the title of Worlds Next Top Natural Hair Model because for me it is about so much more than the hair! This is a lifestyle that I acquired five years ago and I have been loving, cherishing and reveling in every moment of it ever since!
I make it my business to encourage and empower others that I come in contact with to also make the decision to become natural. My conversation with these individuals is usually equipped with advice about products they can use, styles they can wear during transition, not to get too frustrated during transition and stylists that can help them with all of this and teach them how to manage their natural hair.
I am often referred to by my friends and family as a walking, talking billboard of all things natural. I promote it with my life! I am proud of the beauty and power that I possess by being natural. It is one of the best decisions I have made in my life and has brought so much joy and fulfillment to my life.”
