New Latino Vision celebrates Cinco de Mayo

KALAMAZOO (MICH)- On May 7, hundreds of people from the community came out for fun and cultural celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The event, sponsored by New Latino Vision and State Farm Insurance, offered a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages. The event was held in Upjohn Park and offered pinata busting for kids, cultural dance by those of all ages and authentic Mexican food.

Others vendors provided their support and offered everything from free face painting for kids to cultural items such as Mexican-style hats and jewelry.

Community Voices was founded in 2005 by James and Arlene Washington in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The weekly print publication provided a unique opportunity to inform the multicultural community of news important to them. In addition, it provided an affordable advertising source for small businesses in the community.
