A Community Conversation on the State of Our Union- Part Three
 
 
Blue with Flag Icon Memorial Day Wishes Facebook Post (10)KALAMAZOO (MICH.)- The Lewis Walker Institute will host a series of Zoom discussions with leaders in our community and nation to address the current events surrounding George Floyd’s death and its aftermath. We will discuss the police responses, addresses the history behind the various policing policies, the balance of being Black and Blue, and we will also address the resurgence of white supremacy in our police forces. We will conclude the discussion series by discussing what we can do to address the underlying issues behind George Floyd’s death and the steps we are taking to address the underlying issues.
 
Week 3: An Analysis will feature the brain trust of the Lewis Walker Institute, Drs. Cooney, Davidson, and Walker, with special guests to wrap up and analyze what we have discussed and place the discussion into a historical perspective. By the conclusion of this week’s conversation, we should have some concrete next steps to effect change. Special guests include student leaders, local and national speakers.
